The Raptor version is made for heavy off-road and develops over 400 horsepower
Ford has introduced an extreme version of its Bronco SUV, which will be the most powerful in the model range. The exact characteristics of the engine are not disclosed, as it was only announced that it will develop over 400 horsepower.
The development of the car is the work of the Ford Performance division, and the creators of the Raptor were inspired by the American Ultra4 off-road championship. The races are held in the desert, so the same places are used in the Bronco Raptor advertising campaign – the car moves at an impressive speed through the sand and climbs steep dunes.
In addition, the most powerful Bronco receives a special Baja Mode for maximum performance during high-speed desert racing. Ford Performance added that they have increased the torsional rigidity of the body by more than 50%, as well as readjusted the suspension for better off-road stability and installed Fox 3.1 Live Valve shock absorbers similar to those of the F-150 Raptor. The ground clearance of the SUV has been increased to an impressive 33 centimeters, and the suspension travel has increased by 60 and 40% – respectively to 330 and 355 mm.
Under the hood is a 3.5-liter turbo V6, which is combined only with a 10-speed automatic. By comparison, the standard Bronco is also available in the US with a manual transmission. The drive is to all wheels with a transfer case with a reduction ratio of 3.06: 1.
The Bronco Raptor differs from the standard SUV in both exterior and interior design. For example, in the extreme version, the brand name, not the model, is placed on the grille, and the optics are also slightly changed. The difference in width is 25 cm.
Ford Performance seats are installed in the saloon, and the list of equipment includes adaptive cruise control and a B&O audio system with ten speakers. This version will be available with only 5 doors, and prices will be announced in early February.
